It is with the deepest regret, and sadness, that we have to announce the passing of Mr Quentin Gilpin. He was a friend, not only to me, and my family, the rifle club, but also the Scouts and Guides and the whole of the scouting movement.

He was a resident of Fittleworth, and a great supporter of the local community, as well as many other organisations outside of the village. There cannot have been many from the village, that did not know this learned, educated, artistic and talented man.

For all of us that knew Quentin, rarely seen without his pipe; even after he had stopped smoking it. He will be greatly missed.
